ABOUT //

Hey, I'm Jake

I’m a Motion Designer and Creative Director — and a writer and a filmmaker and a graphic designer and an editor and a whatever the project I'm working on needs me to be. I went to school for film and stumbled into motion design thanks to early Video Copilot tutorials - thank you for my career Andrew Kramer. Ten years and a ton of projects later I'm still here. Sometimes I get to make cinematic visuals for films and stages and other times I get to make playful animations to promote an app or a small group. My style is a bit of a hodgepodge because I’ve had to learn to do both.

Motion Design is a wide range of stuff — no matter your style or your leaning there is space to create what you want. I’d love to join you on that journey and help make it a little easier for you to create incredible looking and ultimately fulfilling work.

Opener for the Song of Solomon series.
A collection of Christmas stories -- The Team really killed it with this one. We had roughly 7 days to record the stories, design and build the characters, rig them, and animate. It was wild. The gang from Seinfeld make an appearance, Jackie Chiles runs a CVS now. Lots of Rubberhose and joysticks + sliders were used in the making of this.
It's a oner and it was so much fun to make. Lord of the Rings. Mary Poppins. Phantom of the Opera. Singing in the Rain. E.T. Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark. Back to the Future. Men in Black. I was lucky enough to get to concept and direct this with the most amazing team of the most talented people. I got to sit in a DeLorean. I got to use a neuralyzer. I got to make latex E.T. finger extensions. Dreams really do come true. At The Movies opener 2018.
A new opener for Highlands using Low Poly landscapes created exclusively with Trapcode MIR and some Particular. Heavy inspiration from Ron Weaver, https://vimeo.com/64088259 Animation and Design: Jake Taylor + Greg McKinney Music: "Rise" - Lights & Motion
we had about 12 hours to do this whole thing. Adam Wesley made some dang nice tunes and we quickly wrote, storyboarded, designed, and animated.
